  • Doctor / Pharmacy

    If medical attention is required, please contact the reception desk by dialing 999. A General Practitioner, a pharmacy and a hospital are available 24 hours a day.
    The First Aid and pharmacy, are situated in the hospital ‘Spaarne Gasthuis’, just 10 minutes by foot.

  • Luggage storage

    We have the possibility to store your luggage. Our reception desk staff will be happy to assist you.
    Van der Valk Hotel Haarlem is not responsible for loss, theft or damage of/to your goods.

  • Beds/Cots

    It is possible to place an extra bed in a Comfort+3 room. You can also choose for a baby cot in all room types. For further information and costs, please contact our reception.

  • Messages

    If there are any messages for you, we will notify you here by phone or in writing. For guest messages, please submit them to reception or call us at 999, and we will ensure they are properly delivered to the guest.

  • Payments methods

    We accept the following payment methods:

    When reserving a room, we hold it for you until 6 P.M. You have two options to confirm the reservation: you can prepay for the reservation via the payment link sent a few days before the reservation, or you can authorize a credit card to ensure that the room is guaranteed for your stay.

    If you wish to book a package, the terms of FLEX24 apply. This means that you must pay a deposit for your package 24 hours in advance, and cancellations are only possible up to 24 hours before the start, unlike the previous option until 6 P.M. on the day itself.

  • Visitors

    Visits after 10 P.M. are not permitted; each room type has a maximum number of guests. Exceeding this limit will result in actions taken by Van der Valk Hotel Haarlem.

  • Fire safety

    The entire building is equipped with smoke detectors. If you notice a fire, please follow these steps:

    1 Report the fire.
    - Press the manual fire alarm and call 888.

    - Report: Who you are, what is on fire, where it is on fire and if people are in danger.
    2 Warn people in the area.
    3 Extinguish if possible (follow the instructions on the extinguisher)Please note; your own safety first!
    4 Close the doors and windows.
    5 Do not use the elevator, only the stairs.
    6 Make sure everyone is safe.
    7 Go to the reception.

  • Computer

    Hotel guests can use the computers in the hotel lobby for free.

  • First aid/AED

    At the reception desk, a first aid kit and AED are available.

  • Bicycles

    It is possible to rent bicycles at the reception desk.
    We have 7 gear bicycles.
    For questions or to make a reservation, please contact our reception desk or dial 999.
    You can use the bicycle throughout the day.

    We kindly ask you to return the keys before 12 A.M. and to place the bicycle in the bicycle shed.

  • Lost & Found

    If you've lost something during your stay at Van der Valk Hotel Haarlem, don't worry, we have an efficient system called 'iLost' for lost and found items. Recognize something that belongs to you? You can retrieve it directly at the reception or easily claim it via the website. Once you submit a claim, we'll ensure that the lost item is returned to you as soon as possible. Your comfort and convenience are our top priorities, even when it comes to lost items

  • Green Choice/Orange Choice

    During your stay, your hotel room is cleaned daily as standard. However, when you choose 'Green Choice', you contribute directly to a better environment. Every time a guest opts to skip room cleaning, a tree is planted in Scotland. With 'Orange Choice', we plant half a tree. This is part of the Valk Exclusief's comprehensive Trees4Next program.

  • Hotelbar

    Discover our renovated bar, Birdy'sBar, on the third floor. Enjoy cozy ambiance, drinks and delicious snacks during our extended opening hours. We look forward to welcoming you!

  • Pets

    Pets are NOT allowed in the hotel. In the event that pets are found in the room, a cleaning fee of €75,- will be charged. However, we gladly make an exception for service dogs, as they are welcome.

  • Internet

    The entire hotel is equipped with free wireless Internet. Use of the wireless internet is free of charge. You connect with the network ‘HotelHaarlem’ and a password will not be needed.

  • Candles

    Because of fire safety it is not allowed to burn candles and/or incense in your room.

  • Safe

    The safe is situated in the closet in your room. On the front side, you will see the manual for using the safe. Do not leave money or other valuables unattended in your room. Hotel Haarlem is not responsible for loss or theft of personal belongings.

  • Complaints

    Please do not hesitate to contact the reception desk immediately if you have any complaints. We will do our utmost best to solve your complaint straight away. You can also send your feedback to:

  • Pillows/ Blankets

    You will find an extra pillow in your closet. For more pillows or blankets you can contact the reception desk anytime.

  • Defects

    If you notice any defects in your room, please contact the reception desk and the problem will be solved as soon as possible.

  • Do not disturb

    In case you do not want to be disturbed, please hang the “donotdisturb” sign outside your door.

    Our colleagues of the Housekeeping department will provide a bag with fresh towels on your door.

  • Emergency/ Emergency exits

    Please contact the reception desk straight away in case of emergency and dial 888.
    All emergency exits are clearly marked and are also listed on the map on the door of your room.

    We recommend to notify yourself about the nearest emergency exit.

  • Breakfast

    The breakfast buffet will be served in our restaurant.
    Monday – Friday 06.00 A.M. – 10.30 A.M.
    Saturday – Sunday 07.00 A.M. – 11.00 A.M.

    It is also possible to order breakfast in bed, roomservice charges will apply. We kindly ask you to inform the reception the evening beforehand.

  • Public transport

    At the reception desk, you can obtain information about public transport in the area.

  • Parking

    The car park of our hotel, provides plenty of places which are free of charge for all of our guests.

  • Map

    You can receive a free map of Haarlem and Amsterdam at the reception.

  • Post

    If you have mail you would like to send, please drop it off at the reception. We also offer the service of franking your mail; please note that there will be associated costs. If your mail already has a stamp, you can simply hand it in at the reception.

  • Reception

    At the reception desk, we are available 24 hours a day. During the night, the reception desk is staffed by a night receptionist. Between 23.00 P.M. and 06.00 A.M., the main entrance will be closed. You can use your room key to get in. Guests that do not have a room, will have to use the intercom next to the door. The entrance of the side building will be closed between 10.00 P.M. and 07.00 A.M. During these hours, you will have to use the main entrance.

  • Restaurant

    The kitchen is open Monday to Friday from 6 A.M. to 10 P.M. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 A.M. to 11 P.M. In our restaurant, you can enjoy your breakfast, lunch or dinner. We advise you to book a table, to avoid any disappointment.

  • Smoking

    Our hotel has a smoke free policy. In the hotel rooms, as well as in the public areas, it is notallowed to smoke. It is not allowed to use a super smoker (or a similar replacement for cigarettes) within the hotel. Smoking is only allowed outside of the hotel. Guests are allowed to smoke on the terraces and balconies, however the door must be closed. If our Housekeeping and Security department conclude that there has been smoked in the room, guests face a penalty of € 150, -.

  • Smoking in the room detected

    If our Housekeeping and Security department conclude that there has been smoked in the room, a cleaning fee of € 150 will be charged. This must be paid directly at the reception. It is strictly forbidden to switch off the fire detector or parts thereof or influence its operation. Upon finding this, you will be immediately removed from the hotel without refund of any charges paid.

  • Roomservice

    In your room, you will find a QR code from the service 'Anna-bell' to order room service. Scan this code to view the room service menu. Would you like something delivered to your room? There is a room service charge for this. Please keep in mind that roomservice is available from 5 P.M.

  • Sports facilities

    The gym is located on the 5th floor, accessible by the elevators in the hotel lobby. Please bring your keycard to enter the gym. There are towels available.

  • Iron/ Ironing board

    Iron and ironing board are available in our hotel.

    Please dial 999 to contact the reception desk for availability and our staff will bring it to your room.

  • Taxi

    If you wish to use a taxi, please indicate this at the reception desk. Our staff will be happy to book a taxi for you.

  • Tourist information

    You can perfectly combine your stay at Hotel Haarlem with a visit to the city center of Haarlem. Just ask at the reception desk for more information about the area and a city map.

  • Toiletries

    Did you forget your toothbrush or razor? These are available for free at the reception desk. In out To Go Shop machine in the hotel lobby, we also sell various toiletries.

  • Check out

    Check out time is before 12 P.M. If you wish to extend your stay until 5 P.M., an extra amount will be charged. You can check the availability for a late check out at the reception desk. For our suites and family rooms, we apply different rates and conditions to extend your stay. Please contact the reception desk for further information.

  • Safety

    To increase the safety of our guests and staff, Van der Valk Hotel Haarlem is equipped with a fire alarm system.

    To ensure a good functioning of this system, without false alarms and unnecessary visits of the fire department, it is very important that you take the following into account:

    • It is not allowed to smoke in the hotel.
    • If this is detected, guests will face a penalty.
    • It is not allowed to burn candles and/or incense in the hotel room.
    • It is not allowed to create open fire or use fireworks.
    • It is not allowed to use smoke machines or similar devices.
    • It is strictly forbidden to switch off/deactivate the fire alarm system in your hotel room. Guests will be required to leave the hotel immediately without any compensation (or refund of your deposit).
  • Laundry/ Dry cleaning

    In the closet of your room, you will find a laundry bag, as well as a form. You will need to fill this out and deliver this, together with your clothes at the reception desk. If you hand in the laundry bag at the reception desk before 08.00 AM, it will be returned in the afternoon.

  • Wake-up call

    Please inform the reception desk about our desired wake-up call. It is also possible to set an alarm on your television via the information button. Do not forget to leave your television on standby otherwise the alarm will not go off.

  • Meeting rooms

    Do you have a meeting, conference, exhibition or wedding? Ask for all the possibilities at the sales department.

  • Swimming pool

    Behind the hotel you will find the swimming pool “Boerhaave bad”. Tickets are available at the reception. Please ask our staff for the opening hours and directions.
